Welcome to Yin Yoga Edinburgh

Thanks for visiting my site on your yoga journey. I'm on a mission to introduce as many people as possible to the benefits of yin.

What is yin yoga you might ask? Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga as exercise, incorporating principles of traditional Chinese medicine with asanas (postures) that are held for longer periods of time than in other styles.

Yin Yoga poses apply moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body—the tendons, fasciae and ligaments —with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility.

If you can breathe you can do yoga. Don't be shy, give it a go - I practice a very inclusive and non-judgemental approach and aim to make everyone feel comfortable. We're all different - let's celebrate those differences.

About me...

My name is Jane and I am a working mum. I began yoga around 15 years ago in Edinburgh, to help deal with stress and stay healthy. After a terrible experience initially where I was made to feel 'not good enough' by a horrible teacher (I won't name names...) I eventually braved a different class and was hooked!

I find yoga to be a place to go 'for me'. For mind, body and soul.

I decided to deepen my practice by embarking on the 'Yoga for Modern Living' (200 hrs Yoga Alliance) Teacher Training course with the fabulous team at Hot Yoga Edinburgh. This was a mix of yin and yang yoga. Over the course of studying, learning, practicing and teaching I fell in love with yin yoga. As a result I now teach predominantly yin though am still a huge fan of a varied practice.

I really want to offer yoga to anyone, regardless of age, ability or experience. So often classes can feel intimidating - and I know the feeling of not feeling 'good enough' to do it.

This is yoga for everyone. Please join me in giving it a try. What's the worst that could happen?
